Position Summary

The Line Service Manager is responsible for overseeing all line service operations at the Fixed Base Operator (FBO), ensuring safe, efficient, and professional ground handling services for all aircraft and customers. This role supervises line service technicians, maintains compliance with safety and regulatory standards, manages equipment and fuel operations, and ensures exceptional customer service for pilots, crew, and passengers.


Key Responsibilities

Operational Management

  • Oversee daily line service operations including aircraft fueling, towing, marshaling, parking, and ground support services.
  • Ensure safe and efficient handling of all aircraft in accordance with company policies, FAA regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Coordinate ramp activities to maintain efficient aircraft movement and parking.
  • Monitor fuel inventory and coordinate fuel deliveries as needed.


Team Leadership

  • Train, schedule, and supervise line service technicians.
  • Provide ongoing training on safety procedures, aircraft handling, and customer service.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching to team members.
  • Collaborate with human resources to recruit qualified team members
  • Ensure adequate staffing coverage for all operational hours.


Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce ramp safety procedures and ensure compliance with FAA, OSHA, and company policies.
  • Conduct safety meetings, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Maintain accurate operational and safety records.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and safe operation of all ground support equipment (GSE).


Customer Service

  • Maintain high standards of service for customers including pilots, passengers, and crew.
  • Address customer concerns or service issues promptly and professionally.
  • Work closely with customer service representatives and other departments to ensure seamless service delivery.


Equipment & Facility Management

  • Oversee maintenance and inspection of ground support equipment, fuel trucks, and related tools.
  • Ensure ramp and fueling equipment are operational and properly maintained.
  • Coordinate repairs and preventative maintenance schedules.


Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Aviation, business, or management training preferred


Experience

  • 3–5 years of FBO or aviation ground operations experience
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred
  • Experience with aircraft fueling and ramp operations required


Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Knowledge of aircraft fueling procedures and ramp safety standards
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced aviation environment
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities


Certifications (Preferred or Required)

  • Valid driver’s license
  • NATA Safety 1st Training (preferred)
  • Line Service or Fueling certifications (preferred)
  • Ability to obtain airport driving privileges


Physical Requirements

  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods
  • Work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays


Work Environment

This position operates primarily on the airport ramp and requires adherence to strict safety protocols. The Line Service Manager works closely with aircraft crews, passengers, and other airport personnel to ensure safe and efficient operations.
