The Opportunity

The Vice President, Capital Formation & Communications will be part of the team that leads Velocity's efforts to build and strengthen relationships with investors and other key external stakeholders, while shaping the firm's brand, marketing, and communications presence in the market. The role sits at the intersection of capital formation, marketing, and investor communications, and is responsible for developing compelling materials and campaigns that support fundraising, deepen investor engagement, and elevate the firm's profile within the fund finance market.

This is a highly visible role that requires close collaboration with senior decision-makers and the broader investment team. The position is best suited for a candidate with strong marketing and communications expertise, sound business judgment, established project management skills and a demonstrated ability to operate independently and with ownership in a lean, fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities

Capital Formation & Campaigns

  • Drive ideas by identifying opportunities and challenges to reach investors and prospects effectively.
  • Build a collaborative relationship with the investment team to align capital formation and marketing efforts.
  • Partner closely with internal and external teams to produce and execute investor-facing campaigns.
  • Support and coordinate capital formation initiatives, including preparation of pitch materials, investor presentations, and data room content.
  • Develop and maintain external relationships aligned with firm objectives.

Marketing Materials & Brand

  • Champion a digital-first mindset across marketing and investor communications.
  • Ensure brand consistency across investor, sales, and marketing materials.
  • Oversee design deliverables and assist with the development of marketing and investor presentations.
  • Draft meaningful sections of marketing and investor materials with limited supervision, reflecting independent thought and analysis.

Digital & Social Media

  • Manage the social media calendar, assets, approvals, and scheduling.
  • Plan and maintain content and approvals for the firm's corporate account and relevant spokespeople.
  • Manage sponsored content, paid campaigns, engagement, and effectiveness on LinkedIn.

Email & Investor Communications

  • Aid in crafting and deploying HTML emails and investor communications campaigns.
  • Manage audience segmentation, personalization, and distribution lists.
  • Execute communications through the firm's marketing automation system.

Marketing Analytics

  • Evaluate marketing and communications effectiveness through KPIs and provide insights.
  • Leverage digital engagement data (e.g., Google Analytics, Salesforce) to analyze performance.
  • Create and manage marketing and investor reporting and dashboards.
  • Build measurement programs that connect marketing activity to capital formation outcomes.

Project Management & Portfolio Support

  • Act as the project manager for fund raising activities.
  • Ensure investor and marketing data is accurate, timely, and complete across internal systems and reporting.
  • Contribute to value-add initiatives across the platform, including process improvements and strategic projects.
  • Demonstrate mentorship and support the development of junior team members.


Qualifications & Profile

  • Strong analytical and technical capabilities, with the ability to independently perform analysis and draw sound conclusions.
  • Demonstrated marketing and communications experience, preferably with meaningful time in investment management or a related financial services field.
  • Ability to synthesize complex data into clear, structured insights and recommendations.
  • Experience developing investor-facing materials, marketing campaigns, and brand communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate with increasing independence and ownership in a lean team environment.
  • Strong written skills, including the ability to draft investor materials, marketing content, and other internal materials.
  • Effective verbal communicator, capable of engaging with external stakeholders and representing the firm professionally.
  • Sound judgment and professional presence, with the ability to represent the firm externally.
  • Problem solver with a proactive, self-directed approach, creative instincts, and a focus on high-quality, on-time execution in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interest in mentoring and contributing to team development.
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, Salesforce, Google Analytics, Pardot (Account Engagement), LinkedIn Campaign Manager, and Adobe InDesign or Illustrator is a plus.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or military service.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in marketing, communications, investor relations, or capital formation, preferably within investment management or private credit.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong emphasis on PowerPoint and Excel.
