The Position: Foxglove Communications is seeking a sharp, hospitality-obsessed Assistant Vice President to join our growing team. You'll work alongside a tight-knit group of strategists and storytellers on an acclaimed national roster of clients who are setting the standard for hospitality across the country.

Candidates must be based in New York City. This is a hybrid role with regular on-site presence at client meetings, media appointments, and events.

Title: Assistant Vice President 


Responsibilities: 

  • Serve as a steward of company culture internally and externally, representing the agency across marketing and new business development opportunities; and exemplifying how we service our clients, engage with the media, and the broader hospitality industry
  • Thoughtfully manage client business for a robust roster of accounts 
  • Proactively manage and serve as the top-down owner of accounts under your purview, taking the role of project manager and/or mentor to the project manager; providing strategic counsel; operating largely autonomously to ensure accounts are serviced to company standards including:
  • Overseeing strategic planning, executing communications plans, pitching, cultivate team competencies, offer thoughtful team delegation, and ensure timely and accurate client reporting 
  • Responsible for client satisfaction, strategic results and maintaining healthy relationships
  • Serve as an integral member of the Leadership Team, actively contributing to Leadership and Management meetings, developing internal tools and resources, and fostering the company culture 
  • Oversee, mentor, and support assigned direct reports and employees at all levels
  • Support the growth of the management team more broadly, with level-specific management team meetings and coaching opportunities
  • Play an active role with the company as a whole; active and proactive voice providing industry news, forward-thinking strategy, staff development ideas, etc.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with editorial media and industry and ensure the team is developing deep relationships that lead to results. Supervise creation of strong media lists
  • Support the agency in thought leadership efforts, including panel submissions, media opportunities, agency award entries and promotional efforts
  • Develop review materials and provide ongoing feedback, fostering a growth path for direct reports; identifying problems and posing solutions before they result in external issues or harm the company; and addressing performance challenges–consulting manager for input and review approvals  
  • Serve as an active support on new business, joining pitch meetings, playing a hand in crafting proposals and contract execution, and new client onboarding 
  • Thoughtfully representing the agency at industry and client festivals and events, and leveraging these opportunities to deepen agency relationships
  • Maintaining awareness of key media awards, events and festivals, cultivating deep relationships with organizers to leverage clients and the agency; ensuring appropriate clients and the agency are submitted; participating in the upkeep of tracking documents 
  • Media industry immersion and monitoring of key media outlets; reading and researching local media, relevant lifestyle food magazines, online outlets and influencers; ensuring media lists are current and effective 
  • Lead execution of PR initiatives and in-market activations, including deskside appointments, interviews, FAM trips, media events in markets across the U.S.; serving as a senior Foxglove representative in your market and for clients that may not be under your day-to-day client roster
  • Manage event organization, overseeing lists, invitations, and run-of-shows for events
  • Research, write, edit and distribute press materials and mentor client teams in doing the same 
  • Oversee the dissemination of agendas, press kit materials, client bios, website copy, and curated pitches–and ensure quality control is maintained
  • Oversee and maintain account reporting and thoughtfully share results 
  • Serve as the primary contact for nurturing client relationships, and managing a book of business–staying in tune with the goals and results against the scope of work 
  • Provide ideation for campaigns, strategic events, and partnerships
  • Recognize and bring client issues to supervisor’s attention with a proposed solution(s); ability to navigate smaller client issues independently  
  • Establish trusted partnerships with peers, clients, and media; create channels of communication to keep them informed
  • Interview prospective candidates and lead onboarding process

 

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years PR agency experience, directly related to the hospitality field, is a must
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Passion for hospitality and travel
  • Proven management and leadership skills and team development experience
  • Active, demonstrable, and strong media relationships in the hospitality sector
  • Effective pitching skills and results garnered from proactive pitching efforts
  • Energetic, self-directed, and self-motivated
  • Displays a sense of urgency, ownership and drive to get things done
  • Excellent presentation skills and ability to connect and work collaboratively with a client team to find creative story angles and target media
  • Willingness to visit clients and travel for company obligations and to develop new media relationships
  • Experience successfully driving media relations and thought-leadership campaigns
  • Strong time management and project management skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Must be able to occasionally work night/weekend hours for client events 
  • Experience with relevant industry software: Google Suite (Drive, Sheets, Docs, Slides), MuckRack, Asana, etc.
  • Social media literacy (past social experience is a plus)
