The Vein Institute is a specialized medical clinic dedicated to diagnosing and treating vein conditions such as varicose and spider veins using advanced, minimally invasive procedures. The practice is known for delivering personalized, patient-centered care in a comfortable outpatient setting while helping patients improve both their vascular health and overall confidence.

We are seeking a full-time, and detail-oriented, Controller.

Salary Range: $125,000 to 135,000. Based on experience, and an annual performance bonus up to 12% of base salary.

Schedule is Monday through Friday.

Summary:

The Controller is responsible for providing strategic financial leadership, managing all aspects of the organization’s financial operations. This role is critical in scaling the business sustainably, optimizing financial performance, and supporting continued expansion of clinical services. The Controller will partner with executive leadership to shape long-term financial strategy, improve operational efficiency, and guide fiscal decisions that align with Vein Institute’s mission and business goals.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and execute the organization’s overall financial strategy in alignment with clinical, operational, and growth objectives.
  • Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. Partner with outside accounting firm to verify work and oversee that relationship.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant financial statements in accordance with healthcare and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead annual budgeting and long-range financial planning processes for all clinic locations.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance, KPIs, and operational metrics; report findings to executive leadership.
  • Manage cash flow, working capital, and banking relationships to ensure financial stability.
  • Oversee revenue cycle management, including billing, collections, insurance reimbursements, and accounts receivable.
  • Develop strategies to improve reimbursement rates, collection efficiency, and revenue integrity.
  • Implement and maintain internal financial controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard organizational assets.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and healthcare-specific financial regulations and standards.
  • Lead and manage annual audits, tax filings, and relationships with external accountants and auditors.
  • Provide financial analysis and modeling to support new clinic openings, service line expansion, and capital investments.
  • Partner with clinical and operational leaders to improve cost efficiency without compromising patient care quality.
  • Oversee procurement, vendor contracts, and expense management across all locations.
  • Recruit, lead, mentor, and evaluate the finance and accounting team including the Accounts Payable position.
  • Support contract negotiations with payers, vendors, and financial institutions.
  • Prepare and present financial reports, forecasts, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies to protect the organization.
  • Evaluate and recommend financial systems, technology, and process improvements to support scalability.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold the highest standards of ethical and professional financial conduct.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a closely related field required.
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Finance, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or comparable professional certification preferred like a FMVA.
  • Minimum of eight years of progressive financial management experience with increasing levels of responsibility required.
  • Prior experience in a senior financial leadership role such as Chief Financial Officer, Controller, or Director of Finance within a healthcare organization required.
  • Experience supporting financial operations for multi-location healthcare practices, outpatient clinics, or physician groups required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare financial regulations, reimbursement methodologies, and compliance standards required.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and long-range financial planning required.
  • Experience overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, audits, and tax compliance functions required.
  • Experience managing revenue cycle functions, including billing, collections, and payer reimbursement processes required.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare reports to support organizational decision-making required.
  • Experience managing cash flow, banking relationships, and capital planning activities required.
  • Experience leading, supervising, and developing finance or accounting personnel required.
  • Ability to communicate financial information effectively to executive leadership and governing bodies required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with ethical, legal, and organizational standards required.
  • Experience supporting organizational growth initiatives such as new clinic openings, service line expansion, or capital investments preferred.
  • Familiarity with healthcare financial systems, practice management platforms, and electronic health record integrations preferred.
  • Experience working with investors, private equity, or complex ownership structures preferred.
