Role: Data Center Architect
Location: Hybrid at any of below
- Johns Creek / Atlanta, GA ( Preferred location )
- Omaha, NE
- Lewisville, TX
- Chandler, AZ
Duration: Long Term
The DC Architect role is not an admin, not a coordinator - this is a senior technical lead with deep experience in large scale data center migrations and forensic cleanup.
We need someone who can operate independently, make strategic recommendations, and coordinate multiple streams of physical and logical work.
Here's the expectation:
DC Architect - Required Experience
- Has led multiple large scale data center migrations or consolidations (preferably in a financial, regulated, or high availability environment).
- Understands complex physical logical environments: racks, power, cooling, cabling, networks, virtualization, storage arrays, clusters, dependencies, and application stacks.
- Able to design migration and cleanup strategies, not just execute tasks.
- Comfortable running forensic triage across diverse hardware (servers, network, storage, ESXi clusters, firewalls).
- Understands redundancy models, failure domains, and risk areas in a Tier III data center environment.
- Deep hands on ability - can log into systems, inspect configs, read logs, and make technical determinations.
- DCIM & CMDB expertise - can identify data model issues, alignment failures, and structural gaps in our inventory systems.
DC Architect - Responsibilities
- Build and drive an 18 month cleanup and migration strategy across all four sites
- Coordinate with Client's Defrag, ITHAM, Decom, and Migration teams
- Prioritize racks/rows, wave plans, and risk reducing initiatives
- Identify constraints (power, cooling, network paths, migration windows)
- Make architectural recommendations based on what the forensic teams find
- Act as escalation point when systems are unknown, misconfigured, or business critical
- Review scream test candidates and determine safety and timing
- Ensure all physical cleanup ties back to accurate records in ServiceNow/DCIM/Nautobot
