Title: Scrum Master with NexusOne Experience
Scrum Master – Core Responsibilities
- The Scrum Master is responsible for leading Agile delivery execution and ensuring teams operate effectively within the Scrum framework. This role drives consistency in Agile practices, supports delivery predictability, and enables high-performing teams through coaching, facilitation, and continuous improvement.
- Key responsibilities include facilitating all Scrum ceremonies such as Sprint Planning, Quarterly/PI Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives. The Scrum Master ensures these ceremonies are effective, outcome-driven, and aligned with delivery objectives. They also oversee resource capacity tracking and forecasting to support realistic planning and sustainable delivery.
- The role requires active management of sprint execution, including tracking progress against sprint goals, monitoring delivery health, and ensuring adherence to Agile principles and Scrum standards. This includes facilitating backlog refinement sessions with Product Owners and supporting an empirical approach to delivery through continuous inspection and adaptation.
- The Scrum Master is also responsible for monitoring team performance using Agile metrics such as velocity, sprint burndown/burnup, and cycle time. These insights are used to identify trends, improve predictability, and drive data-informed decisions across the team and leadership.
- A critical part of the role is identifying and removing impediments that may impact delivery. This includes managing risks, resolving blockers, and coordinating dependencies across teams. The Scrum Master acts as a central point of coordination to ensure alignment across delivery teams and stakeholders.
Technical & Delivery Enablement
- The Scrum Master is expected to have a solid understanding of technical delivery environments, including system architecture, APIs, integrations, and application dependencies. While not responsible for hands-on engineering, the role supports teams in assessing technical feasibility, estimating complexity, and identifying delivery risks during planning cycles.
- Additional responsibilities include helping teams manage technical debt, addressing environment and infrastructure challenges, and identifying potential release or deployment risks. The role also supports enterprise initiatives such as software/hardware end-of-life tracking and vulnerability management efforts, ensuring these are visible, prioritized, and incorporated into delivery planning.
Collaboration & Communication
- The Scrum Master works closely with Product Owners to support backlog prioritization and ensure work aligns with business value and delivery goals. The role partners with engineering leads and architects to understand technical risks and ensure alignment across delivery teams.
- Strong communication is essential, as the Scrum Master provides regular updates to stakeholders and leadership on delivery progress, risks, and outcomes. They also ensure that teams are protected from disruptions, unplanned work, and external noise that could impact sprint commitments.
Agile Coaching & Continuous Improvement
- The Scrum Master plays a key role in coaching teams on Agile principles, Scrum practices, and self-organization. They foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Through retrospectives and ongoing observation, the Scrum Master identifies improvement opportunities and implements changes to enhance team performance, delivery quality, and overall efficiency.
Tools & Delivery Frameworks
- This role utilizes standard Agile frameworks including Scrum as the primary methodology, with exposure to Kanban and Scrum of Scrums for scaled delivery environments.
- Hands-on experience is expected with tools such as Jira for backlog management, sprint tracking, and reporting; Confluence for documentation and knowledge sharing; and SharePoint and Microsoft Office/Teams for collaboration and communication.
- The Scrum Master should be experienced with Agile delivery fundamentals including sprint-based delivery, backlog refinement, Definition of Ready (DoR) and Definition of Done (DoD), story sizing techniques such as Planning Poker or Fibonacci estimation, and iterative software delivery within an Agile SDLC.
Preferred Qualifications
- Candidates should hold a Scrum certification such as Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), or equivalent. Experience working in enterprise environments, including cloud platforms, data platforms, or DevOps ecosystems, is preferred.
- A prior background in engineering, quality assurance, or software development is highly beneficial, along with experience supporting large-scale, multi-team Agile delivery environments.
