Position Overview
The PLC Maintenance Specialist is responsible for providing advanced technical support to ensure continuous and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment and production systems. This role focuses on troubleshooting, maintaining, and improving programmable logic controllers (PLCs), industrial control systems, automation software, and related electrical components within a manufacturing environment.

Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS)

Follow all workplace safety rules, regulations, and safe work practices.
Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard‑free work environment in accordance with 5S principles.
Contribute to achieving and sustaining company safety performance objectives.
Understand, apply, and lead proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.

Technical Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair industrial control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, motion controllers, and associated electrical systems.
Configure, program, modify, and optimize PLC programs to improve equipment reliability and uptime.
Utilize Siemens Step 7 and Siemens TIA Portal platforms for PLC and HMI development and support.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, manuals, and technical documentation.
Support installation, commissioning, and modification of automation and control systems.
Analyze downtime and performance data to develop and implement corrective actions.
Provide advanced (second‑level) technical support to maintenance technicians and electricians.
Collaborate with equipment vendors and contractors to enhance system performance and reliability.
Participate in capital improvement projects and scheduled shutdown activities.
Ensure preventive maintenance tasks and work orders are completed accurately and on schedule.
Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations related to system performance, improvements, and corrective actions.
Maintain clear documentation and communication across shifts through pass‑down activities.

Leadership & Collaboration

Document work activities and system changes accurately and promptly.
Build effective working relationships with peers, technicians, leadership, and external partners.
Monitor and support key performance indicators such as downtime, MTBF, and MTTR.
Assist with mentoring, coaching, and professional development of team members as needed.
Coordinate maintenance activities to support production flow and communicate operational status across departments.
Oversee and guide external contractors performing maintenance or equipment modifications.

Education & Experience
Required:

High School Diploma or GED

Preferred:

Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field, or equivalent hands‑on experience
Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in industrial automation or maintenance
Prior experience in automotive or high‑volume manufacturing environments is preferred

Skills & Qualifications

Strong working knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and best practices
Familiarity with OSHA regulations and industrial safety standards
Experience with machine operation, automation systems, and industrial programming
Self‑directed with the ability to prioritize and work independently when required
Excellent verbal communication, listening, and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational and documentation skills
Proficiency with standard business software tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Positive attitude with a strong commitment to teamwork and continuous improvement

Software & Systems Experience

Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Enterprise maintenance or ERP systems (e.g., SAP or equivalent)
Automation and diagnostic software tools specific to industrial environments

Physical Demands & Work Environment

Work is primarily performed in a manufacturing facility with climate‑controlled areas.
Regular standing, walking, computer work, and hands‑on equipment interaction are required.
Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling may be necessary.
Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs on an infrequent basis.

Position may require occasional domestic or international travel.
Flexibility to work alternate shifts, weekends, holidays, or overtime as business needs dictate.
Willingness to support scheduled shutdowns and preventive maintenance windows.
Ability to work effectively in culturally diverse or cross‑functional environments.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
