Role Description The Heavy Duty Truck Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Mount Pleasant, SC. This role is responsible for performing preventive maintenance and repair on heavy-duty trucks and related equipment, including inspections, diagnostics, and component replacements. The technician will troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues; complete work orders; and document all services performed to company standards. Day-to-day tasks include conducting routine vehicle checks, addressing equipment performance concerns, collaborating with supervisors and team members on repair priorities, and maintaining a clean and safe work area. The role also involves adhering to safety protocols, using diagnostic tools and service manuals, and supporting continuous improvement in fleet reliability and uptime.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Equipment Maintenance and Vehicle Maintenance for heavy-duty trucks and related fleet assets.
- Candidates should possess hands-on abilities in Equipment Repair and working with Heavy Equipment, including engines, brakes, suspensions, and driveline components.
- Candidates should possess effective Troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues efficiently.
- Previous experience as a diesel or heavy truck technician, or in a similar fleet maintenance environment, is preferred.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., ASE, manufacturer-specific, or diesel technology) and a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record are beneficial.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, service bulletins, and work orders, and to use diagnostic equipment and hand tools safely.
- Strong attention to detail, commitment to safety practices, and capability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to work assigned shifts, including possible overtime, and to meet physical demands such as lifting, standing, and working in various shop conditions.
