Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair cable systems including fiber optic, Ethernet, and telephony cabling in residential and commercial settings
- Perform fiber splicing with precision to ensure optimal signal transmission and network performance
- Set up and configure network equipment such as Cisco routers and switches to establish secure and efficient connectivity
- Utilize hand tools and mechanical knowledge to run cables through walls, ceilings, and conduits while adhering to safety standards
- Conduct testing of low voltage wiring using tools like ohmmeters to verify circuit integrity and troubleshoot issues
- Maintain detailed documentation of installation processes, system configurations, and service reports
- Assist in diagnosing electrical issues related to telecommunication infrastructure and implement effective solutions
- Collaborate with team members on field service projects to meet client specifications and project deadlines
- Follow safety protocols for electrical work and ensure compliance with industry regulations
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a service technician or field technician specializing in telecommunication or networking systems
- Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts including Ethernet, telephony systems, and low voltage wiring
- Hands-on experience with fiber splicing techniques and network installation procedures
- Familiarity with Cisco routers, switches, and basic network configuration tasks
- Mechanical aptitude for working with hand tools and mechanical components used in cabling installations
- Electrical experience related to telecommunication infrastructure is highly desirable
- Ability to interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams accurately
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with effective communication abilities
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record preferred
