Duties & Responsibilities

The VCU School of Nursing is seeking a part-time Instructional Designer to join the Online Learning and Teaching Support Team. This role will support faculty in developing and implementing Canvas courses that reflect best practices in learning design. Additionally, the Instructional Designer will assist faculty and students throughout the semester by troubleshooting technology-related issues as they arise.

The Instructional Designer will work with course faculty to create pedagogically-sound courses in Canvas using CidiLabs DesignPlus. The Instructional Designer will be familiar with backwards design, Quality Matters, new technologies, AI, accessibility standards, and the Canvas LMS.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proficient with CidiLabs and the Canvas LMS
  • Knowledge of quality indicators for course design such as Quality Matters or SUNY OSCQR
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve technology-related issues
  • Ability to work flexible hours to include morning, evenings and/or weekends

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching in a college setting or experience leading training courses for faculty and/or students
