Licensure, Certification, Or Registration Requirements
Virginia Board of Pharmacy registration is required.
Pharmacy Technician certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or The Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT), is required within 6 months of employment
Experience REQUIRED: N/A
Experience PREFERRED
One year previous pharmacy practice experience in a similar setting
Previous experience using a standard keyboard and typing speed of 20-30 words per minute
Education/training REQUIRED
High school diploma or equivalent
Education/training PREFERRED: N/A
Independent Action(s) Required
Performs tasks designated by the pharmacist to assist in patient care that do not legally require a pharmacist’s supervision or verification.
Communicates effectively with all staff members.
Identifies equipment or operational problems and brings them to the attention of a pharmacist or pharmacy manager.
Interacts with other health care practitioners in a multidisciplinary environment.
