QUALIFICATIONS:
- General knowledge of basic personal health care. Ability to work with older adults with experience working with frail elderly population or developmentally impaired individuals.
- Effective communication skills: oral and written.
- High school diploma or G.E.D. certificate and evidence for a capacity for learning, and ability to comprehend the use of written and spoken English.
- Pleasant personality and personal qualities conductive to good interpersonal relationships with demonstrated competence in helping others.
- Must have a current CPR and First Aid cards.
- A valid MA Driver’s Licensed/ID
- Bilingual in Spanish
- Must provide evidence of tuberculosis clearance and a health examination.
BASIC FUNCTION:
Program Aide under supervision of Registered Nurse, Activity Director, Social Worker provides assistance to members of the multidisciplinary team in providing various services and programs to participants. Program Aide will provides direct care, and support with daily activities such as mealtime and personal care assisting individuals with planning and achieving goals, implementing participants’ plan of care, driving participants for activities in the community, and following protocols and procedures to maintain a healthy and safe environment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist Registered Nurse, Social Worker, Activity Director and/or consultants to determine needs for personal care and assistance in activities of daily living such as bathing, toileting and eating.
- Assist participants in getting on/off vans, personal hygiene, feeding, managing food intake, walking, exercising, and toileting. Provide assistance with obtaining participants’ monthly weight and work with therapist in the maintenance program.
- Provide support of major group activity and recreational programs, and check participants into the program’s log, carries out the day to day scheduled activities.
- Keep work area clean and tidy which includes sweeping, mopping of floors, cleaning bathrooms, window cleaning and other general cleaning such as nursing office bathroom & beddings.
- Assist in the provision of supportive and restorative nursing as indicated by the treatment plan.
- Other duties assigned by Program Director or one of the above-mentioned members of multidisciplinary team.
