Veterinary Assistant Department: Emergency Location: Victoria, BC Compensation: $17.75 to $25.00, depending on experience Schedule: This position is full-time, with a rotating schedule. Central Victoria Animal Hospital is looking for experienced Veterinary Technician Assistants to join our 24hr Emergency team! This role works closely with our ER RVTs, DVMs and board-certified specialists in a fast-paced, stimulating, world-class medical environment. The ideal candidate will have a positive teamwork-type attitude and a personality that can deliver exceptional customer service and communication skills. A veterinary assistant certificate would be an asset but is not a requirement. This position requires flexibility to work on a rotating schedule; however, it also affords a great work-life balance. Key responsibilities: Assisting Veterinarians and RVTs with various tasks and treatments Creating a warm and welcoming environment for our patients and pet parents Providing compassionate care duties, including feeding and walking patients Creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients General housekeeping duties; cleanliness of work area, pet holding areas and common areas Client care, such as reception, payments and supportive communication Willingness to learn more regarding veterinary services, updated medical office procedures and assisting the Veterinary staff with various tasks and treatments Key attributes: Exceptional client service skills Compassion and a nurturing attitude Ability to remain calm in stressful situations Ability to adapt to changing situations Efficient in carrying out assignments independently Takes initiative to complete tasks throughout the day Our Story VCA Canada is a network of veterinary hospitals, with our head office in Calgary, Alberta, committed to positively impacting pets, people, and local communities for nearly 45 years.
