Role Description The VMWare Aria Consultant is a full-time, on-site role based in McLean, VA, responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing VMware Aria configurations within complex federal IT environments. The consultant will work with infrastructure and cloud teams to build and maintain virtualized platforms, automate provisioning and lifecycle management, and support integration with existing systems and tools. Daily activities include deploying and configuring VMware Aria components, performing performance tuning and capacity planning, and resolving technical issues across infrastructure, networking, and Windows environments. The role involves collaborating with project managers, security teams, and federal clients to gather requirements, document solutions, and ensure compliance with agency standards and best practices. The consultant will provide ongoing operational support, create technical documentation, and contribute to continuous improvement of Varmoda’s cloud and virtualization offerings.
Qualifications
- Strong infrastructure skills covering virtualization platforms, server administration, and cloud or hybrid-cloud environments.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting complex technical issues across VMware Aria stacks, virtual machines, and related services.
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or equivalent VMware certification demonstrating deep knowledge of VMware technologies.
- Solid networking skills, including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, firewalls, and integration of virtual networks with on-prem and cloud systems.
- Experience managing Windows server environments, including configuration, patching, and integration with VMware-based infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience with VMware Aria (formerly vRealize) suite, including automation, operations, and orchestration tools.
- Familiarity with federal IT environments, security requirements, and compliance frameworks (e.g., FISMA, NIST) is beneficial.
- Ability to document architectures and procedures clearly and to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Ability to work on-site in McLean, VA, and collaborate in cross-functional teams supporting federal missions.
