This is a Continuing Position.

 

 Evergreen Public Schools (EPS) offers the following to eligible employees who work at least 630 hours in a school year:

Certificated positions may have additional pay provisions above what is represented on the salary schedule such as, but not limited to TRI pay, In-Service days, and Extended Contracts, all in accordance with the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) as negotiated.

Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrate skills necessary to provide a successful experience with secondary and elementary school students.
  • Work effectively and cooperatively with instrumental and choral staff in team teaching situations including concert, pep band, and jazz band.
  • Display competency in instrumental music techniques.
  • Develop musicianship at secondary and elementary levels.
  • Present school’s music program(s) to the community in a positive manner.
  • Participate in local concert and jazz band festivals.
  • Display competency in new technology, including music applications.
  • Participate in co-curricular music activities.
  • Be able to travel between buildings as assigned.
  • Work effectively and cooperatively with the community, teachers, administrators, and support staff.
  • Participate collaboratively in PLC work both with building Music PLC and cross district content specific PLC.

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a Bachelor’s Degree; valid Washington State teaching certificate with endorsement in music education.
  • Successfully complete Washington State Patrol background check. Employee is responsible for cost of background check.
  • Must have regular, consistent attendance.
  • Must be willing to uphold District Policies and follow administrative procedures.
  • High school band or orchestra experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated competency on a symphonic band or orchestral instrument.
  • Proficient instrumental conducting techniques.
  • Preferred training and/or experience; or willingness to take course work to increase knowledge and use of the following instructional and management strategies to include:
    1. Classroom management skills
    2. Developmentally Appropriate Practices
    3. Balanced approach to instruction (modeled, shared, guided)
    4. Workshop Method
    5. Reading/writing process
    6. Differentiation
    7. Anti-bias, Multicultural Education
    8. Teaching-Learning Cycle (Planning, Instructing, Assessing)
    9. Professional Learning Communities
    10. Washington State Arts Learning Standards
    11. Washington Classroom Based Performance Assessments
    12. Preferred experience in working with children and families who are culturally, linguistically and racially diverse
