VARA 3D inc. provides surveying and 3D mapping company that provides land surveying, LiDAR scanning, and advanced 3D modeling solutions for commercial, residential, and solar energy projects.

The field surveyor candidate should have 5 years experience in field data collection and construction staking and be or become familiar with LiDAR data collection and processing techniques. The successful candidate will be able work independent of others on a multitude of projects ranging from construction stacking and basic topography and boundary surveys as well as collect information for 3D models using lidar equipment. The position(s) will also require working on multiple projects and coordinating with multiple people - both clients and associates.

Responsibilities & Skills

  • Perform standard field operations for ALTA, boundary, topographical surveys, and construction staking.
  • Ensure company and state statutes and survey industry standards are followed during field operations.
  • Perform research, design, and calculations for survey and mapping projects using AutoCAD or Revit products.
  • Assist with boundary determinations and procedure analysis.
  • Act as an Instrument Person on some field assignments.
  • Use equipment, including GPS, total station, & LiDAR devices to measure boundaries & contours.
  • Take measurements of distances and angles on a property or section of land in order to establish legal boundaries.
  • Perform mathematical calculations with a high level of accuracy.
  • Calculate measurements to be used for various construction and engineering projects.
  • Analyze data using plans, maps, charts, and software such as AutoCAD and GIS programs.
  • Gather field data for use in topographic, boundary, and ALTA surveys.
  • Coordination with staff and clients.
  • Helpful if able to understand detailed research, examine historical property records & maps to determine the legal boundaries of a section of land or property.
  • Follow company procedures and protocols i.e. checklists, timecards, etc
  • Meets assigned deadlines
  • Prompt in attending meetings and schedules

Requirements & Qualifications

Required

  • Valid driver’s license; willing to travel
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and strong time management skills
  • Experience with GPS and Topcon total stations
  • LiDAR experience (Leica Cyclone, RTC, C10; training adaptable)
  • Physically capable of working in all weather, lifting 50 lbs, and navigating uneven terrain
  • Skilled in survey control, boundary, topographic, ALTA, right-of-way, and construction staking
  • Proficient in layout, locating, and grade checking
  • Knowledge of county research and boundary calculations; able to fit boundary
  • Experience in boundary/ALTA field data collection and/or drafting
  • AutoCAD experience; drafting and plan review skills
  • Flexible schedule; able to work independently and manage multiple sites daily

Preferred:

  • Drone Experience
  • Bachelor’s or Associates degree in Geomatics or Surveying
  • MicroStation Experience
  • Leica Cyclone and Scanning equipment experience (or willing to learn)
