Geotechnician – Drill Rig Support
We are seeking motivated and safety-focused Geo-Technicians to support active diamond drilling operations at the Mine Site. This role provides continuous geotechnical and geological support for multiple drill rigs operating in a remote exploration environment.
Successful candidates will work closely with drilling crews, geologists, and field management to ensure accurate core handling, geotechnical logging, and daily operational support across 12-hour day and night shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform rig-side geotechnical and geological logging
- Monitor drill core recovery, orientation, handling, and transport
- Maintain core integrity from recovery through boxing and shipment
- Prepare daily quick logs for near real-time operational decisions
- Collect and record structural and orientation data using digital and manual tools
- Log rock quality, fracture frequency, recovery, and discontinuity conditions
- Photograph logged core according to project standards
- Enter and quality-check geological and geotechnical data
- Coordinate daily with drill crews, supervisors, and geology staff
- Conduct daily rig inspections and participate in safety meetings and shift handovers
- Communicate safety, operational, or geological concerns promptly
- Work Environment
- Remote mine site and man-camp based position
- 12-hour shifts (day and night rotations)
- Extended rotational schedules
- Helicopter transportation may be required for some drill sites
- Camp accommodations and meals provided
- Qualifications
- Experience with geotechnical or geological core logging preferred
- Ability to work independently in remote field conditions
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- OSHA 10 Certification (or ability to obtain)
- Valid driver’s license required
- Degree in Geology, Earth Science, or Engineering preferred
- Comfortable working in harsh weather and rugged terrain
Payrate: $35-$38 hr DOE
