Job Summary:
A local engineering firm seeking an E&I Designer with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in industrial/plant facilities and field work experience. Candidate should have working knowledge of loop sheets, data sheets, P&ID’s, cable schedules, single line diagrams, interconnection diagrams, equipment specifications and equipment installations.
Responsibilities:
- Efficient E&I designs utilizing computer aided software conforming to the client’s standards.
- Work with project teams to ensure designs follow the defined scope of work.
- Identify and resolve conflicts on new designs with existing infrastructures.
- Works with various discipline leads and team members to address their specific requirements as they relate to the E&I designs.
- Maintain Project Monitoring Worksheet which contains: Equipment Lists, Instrument Lists, drawing lists, etc. on assigned projects.
- Work on multiple projects and respond to changing priorities.
- Create issue for quote packages for equipment and instruments as required.
- Ability to read and understand vendor technical drawings and other documentation to translate into designed systems.
- Design process plant instrumentation and electrical power systems in accordance with nationally recognized and company standards.
- Drafting & Preparation of Project Drawings, P&ID’s, Layouts, Schedules, Bill of Materials for Electrical and Instrumentation. Includes single line diagrams, power plan layout, motor elementary, lighting layouts, cable routing, grounding, cable tray routing and & support details, typical installation details.
- Prepare scope of work instrument index, Instrument layout/location drawings, electrical equipment layouts, material take-offs, I/O lists, data sheets, loop drawings and termination details, cable schedules and block diagrams.
- Familiar with Electrical codes, equipment specifications, and various design standards such as OSHA, NEC, ISA, etc.
- Working knowledge of electrical and instrumentation grounding.
- Familiar with Instrument specification sheets.
- Experience with and ability to read power and control circuits.
- Experience in field work for locating and designing electrical equipment and instrumentation systems.
- Knowledgeable in low and medium voltage systems.
- Ability to go on a site visit and complete information gathering to successfully complete an electrical contractor construction package.
- Knowledge of PLCs and DCS systems.
- Familiar with conduit, raceway, cable tray fill, and sizing calculations
Qualifications:
- Electrical engineering degree, technical or trade school completion of electrical and instrumentation or Drafting/Design is preferred.
- Experience with AutoCAD 2D and Plant 3D modeling software.
- Effective computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
- 7 years industrial design experience in process plant instrumentation and electrical power systems.
