Product Safety & Regulatory Compliance Manager

Location: Allentown, PA

Work Arrangement: Hybrid – approximately 50% onsite

Salary: Up to $180,000 10% bonus

We are seeking a Product Safety & Regulatory Compliance Manager with strong experience in battery energy storage systems (BESS) and product safety regulations.

This role will lead the Product Safety and Compliance team and manage the day-to-day compliance activities for the product line, including the next-generation BESS product development phase.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Test & Compliance Engineers based in Allentown, PA.
• Manage day-to-day product safety and regulatory compliance activities.
• Lead compliance efforts for BESS products, including Gen 2 development.
• Provide expertise on UL9540, UL1741, UL924, UL1778, NEC, NFPA, and related standards.
• Monitor emerging regulations and standards impacting critical power and battery storage markets.
• Manage relationships with NRTL testing organizations and external laboratories.
• Lead efforts to establish and maintain satellite laboratory capabilities.
• Participate in standards organizations and influence strategically important emerging standards.
• Support the Phase-Gate product development process from concept through production.
• Advise engineering and senior leadership on regulatory requirements, risks, costs, and timelines.
• Provide regulatory guidance to Project Engineering teams, including testing requirements and schedules.
• Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Product Management, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Finance, Marketing, and Legal.
• Provide regular updates to senior leadership on product safety and compliance programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• 5 years of experience in electrical or electromechanical product safety and regulatory compliance.
• Strong experience with UL, CSA, NEC, and NFPA standards.
• Direct experience with UL9540 and UL1741 required.
• BESS / battery energy storage experience required.
• 3 years of experience leading regulatory compliance and/or test laboratory teams.
• Experience leading product compliance from concept through final manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of NRTL testing and certification processes.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills.
• Ability to present technical information clearly to senior leadership and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and cross-functional teams.
