We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to support our Finance team with accurate and timely payroll processing. This is a part-time role ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, values precision, and is comfortable managing payroll processes in a collaborative environment.
Position Overview
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing bi-weekly payroll and ensuring accuracy in wages, taxes, deductions, and reporting. This role also serves as a key resource for payroll-related questions and works closely with our payroll provider to ensure smooth operations. This position is part-time, working approximately 20-25 hours per week, with eligibility for a hybrid work schedule.
What You’ll Do
- Process bi-weekly payroll, ensuring accuracy of wages, tax withholdings, deductions, and benefit contributions
- Review and validate payroll data for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Support SCSEP payroll processing as needed
- Generate routine and ad hoc payroll reports, including quarterly and year-end reporting
- Respond to employee and external inquiries such as wage verifications, garnishments, and deduction changes
- Serve as the primary liaison with the payroll provider to resolve issues and maintain system accuracy
- Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation
- Assist with audits and other finance-related reporting as needed
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum of 2 years of payroll processing experience
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Experience with payroll systems such as Paycor or Paylocity preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including intermediate Excel skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Excellent communication skills and ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
- Ability to manage deadlines and work independently
Schedule & Flexibility
- Part-time: 20-25 hours per week

Compensation & Benefits
- $17.00–$19.00/hour, depending on experience
