Position Summary:
The Frame Machine Operator / Assembler Trainee is an entry-level position designed to develop the skills needed to fabricate and assemble furniture frames. Under the guidance of experienced team members, the trainee will learn to operate tools and machinery, interpret production instructions, and produce quality frames while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Position Responsibilities:
- Learn to machine and assemble frames using hand tools, pneumatic tools, and woodworking machinery
- Follow blueprints, CAD drawings, and verbal instructions with guidance from supervisors or trainers
- Assist in operating cutting, drilling, and boring equipment safely
- Support documentation and data entry for production and costing as needed
- Inspect work with assistance to ensure frames meet quality standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Participate in training and demonstrate continuous improvement in skills and productivity
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Basic ability to read a tape measure (or willingness to learn)
- Ability to learn and understand drawings, blueprints, and work instructions
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to work with tools and machinery
- Basic computer skills preferred; exposure to AS400, Microsoft Office, or CAD is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Positive attitude, reliability, and ability to work in a team environment
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Lifting/Carrying: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.; team lift or equipment used for heavier items
- Standing/Walking: Required to stand and walk for extended periods (8 hours per shift)
- Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands and arms to handle and manipulate materials
- Movement: Frequent bending, crouching, stooping, and kneeling
- Push/Pull: Regularly moving materials on/off conveyors, tables, or across floors
- Vision: Must be able to see details at close range
- Strength: Requires physical strength for repetitive material handling tasks
