Job Summary:
The Scheduler serves a vital function in the growth of Vanguard Construction & Co. Their primary responsibility is to interpret information based on a set of drawings, review of Long Lead Items and specifications, discussions with fellow estimators, project managers, and visits to a site with the objective of producing and updating Project Schedules using Primavera 6 software.
In seeking a highly motivated, experienced Scheduler to be a Team Player, Vanguard invites the candidate to join our growing construction team. The person should have a strong background in comprehending a set of construction drawings, from a background in Estimating, Project Manager, or Supervising projects. Candidate should intuit the constructability and logistics of building a job and interpret this across a timeline understandable to a client. They report to their Project Manager, Estimators, the Director of Sales and Estimating, Marketing Team, to the Principal and to Senior Management.
The Scheduler will help create and maintain an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect with their fellow employees, and in representing Vanguard to clients and subcontractors with whom they engage.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare Project Schedules using Primavera 6, with knowledge of Microsoft Project and ability to product Gantt Charts as a bonus. of material quantities, square footages and related information to assemble pricing and bid packages.
- Be familiar with uploading schedules onto Procore; program should identify updated delays
- Consult with clients, architects, engineers, building management staff, Vanguard business development staff and other Vanguard project team members to develop and confirm a clear understanding of a project’s Critical Path, Long Lead issues, and scope of work in order to produce a schedule
- Travel to jobsites to review existing conditions, attend client meeting.
- Perform a thorough review of plans, specifications and drawings to identify items, equipment, material or scope, issue RFIs, a Request for Information, and corroborate if such items are accounted for in the estimate to represents the full scope of the project.
- Pursue solutions to constructability and logistics issues in consultation with project team
- Analyze schedules produced by other staff to ensure typical scope is included.
- Coordinate with Marketing team in advance of bid due date to produce and submit schedule
- Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Work experience in general construction estimating, supervision or project mgmt. experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, mathematic, statistics, business-related discipline or equivalent work experience.
- Ability to read drawings a must
- Possess excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Candidates should be organized and detail oriented.
- Candidates must know Primavera 6 program, with Microsoft Project, and Gantt Chart familiarity optional; also, can use Plan Swift; must know Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Must be a pro-active individual able to handle multiple priorities and willing to assist the staff and follow through with the details of multiple projects.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Primarily in-office with optional (every 2 weeks) work from home on Fridays
- The estimated pay range for this position in New York is $ $90,000 – $120,000. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and knowledge.
