What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior HVAC/Mechanical Engineer (MEP Design) position at Vanderweil Engineers?
We are looking for an accomplished HVAC/Mechanical Engineer (Hybrid role). Exciting opportunity to join a our growing team!
Some of your responsibilities include the following:
- Lead the technical development of HVAC systems for large and complex projects particularly in the Commercial, Mission Critical or Lab space.
- Work with and mentor younger HVAC staff on projects.
- Formulate design criteria, perform calculations, develop concept designs, specifications, and construction documents for high performance building systems.
- Supervise and effectively manage technical development throughout all phases of design ensuring tasks are completed in accordance with company standards and good engineering practice.
- Develops mechanical plans, specifications, and inspection reports as needed on assigned tasks.
- Technically involved in the resolution of design problems that may include performing filed investigation or inspections.
- Knowledge and experience with mechanical calculations, equipment selection, ductwork layout, hydronic systems, and construction documents.
- Understand Revit to allow leadership and direction for the design teams.
- Attending field visits, developing visit reports, and meet with contractors, as necessary.
Essential Skills & Requirements:
- 7 years of experience designing HVAC systems in high performance facilities.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Experience leading HVAC teams on technically challenging projects
- Communication, interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills.
- Background in either commercial, hospitality or mission critical data centers is helpful.
- Professional commitment to sustainability, LEED accreditation is a plus.
- A professional Engineering license is a plus.

This position could sit in most of our offices and has a salary range of $120,000 to $160,000. The range is dependent on whether you are entry, mid or senior level, your years of experience, PE licensure, skill sets and education and is negotiable.
