Materials Developer – Apparel Responsibilities
- Drive seasonal textile and material development from early concept through commercialization, partnering closely with vendors and manufacturing teams.
- Research and evaluate textile innovations, trends, and technologies to inform material solutions aligned with performance, lifestyle, and sustainability goals.
- Apply technical materials expertise to assess how yarns, constructions, finishes, and prints perform in finished garments.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, innovation, technical development, sourcing, and manufacturing partners to align materials with product intent.
- Manage testing, documentation, and tracking of material developments while balancing multiple timelines and priorities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Textile Science, Apparel, or a closely related field.
- Hands-on background in textile or material development (this is a development-focused role, not a design position).
- Strong technical knowledge of textiles, including yarns, knitting, weaving, dyeing, printing, and finishing techniques.
- Proven experience working on cross-functional teams within a product creation or apparel development environment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong communication, organization, and follow-through skills.
