Vancouver Oral Surgery Group is seeking a skilled and compassionate Certified Oral Surgery Assistant – Anesthesia Certified to join our team. This position works closely with our oral surgeons to provide exceptional care to patients undergoing oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures and IV sedation.
We are looking for a highly organized, detail-oriented individual with excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for patient care. This role includes assisting with surgical procedures, monitoring sedated patients, maintaining accurate clinical documentation, preparing treatment rooms and instruments, and providing pre- and post-operative patient education.
Because this position involves advanced anesthesia responsibilities and patient monitoring, applicants must already possess Dental Anesthesia Assistant Certification. Compensation reflects the additional training, expertise, and responsibilities required for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with intravenous sedation and anesthesia procedures.
- Monitor patient vital signs during sedation and recovery.
- Assist surgeons during oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures.
- Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
- Maintain accurate electronic patient records.
- Obtain radiographs and assist with patient examinations.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative instructions to patients.
- Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout treatment.
- Maintain WISHA and infection-control standards.
- Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment.
RequirementsRequired Qualifications
- Current Washington State Dental Assistant registration.
- Current Dental Anesthesia Assistant Certification (required).
- Current BLS certification.
- Previous dental assisting experience.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced surgical environment.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to take initiative.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous oral surgery experience.
- ACLS certification.
- Experience with IV sedation and patient monitoring.
