Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Payroll Compliance Specialist to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on accuracy, enjoys solving complex compliance challenges, and takes pride in ensuring payroll operations meet all federal, state, union, and project-specific requirements. You'll play a key role in supporting payroll compliance, certified payroll reporting, audits, and employee records management in a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit weekly certified payroll reports accurately and on time.
- Review employee classifications, wage determinations, and fringe benefit calculations to ensure prevailing wage compliance.
- Interpret and apply collective bargaining agreements, apprenticeship requirements, union fringe benefits, and Davis-Bacon Act regulations.
- Maintain payroll compliance records and assist with union, customer, government, and internal audits.
- Research and resolve payroll compliance issues while implementing corrective actions when necessary.
- Assist with union reporting, fringe benefit reporting, payroll processing, employee record maintenance, and other payroll-related functions.
- Respond to payroll and compliance inquiries from employees, project managers, contractors, unions, auditors, and government agencies.
- Monitor regulatory updates and communicate compliance changes that may impact payroll operations.
Qualifications
- 3 years of union construction payroll compliance experience required.
- Experience preparing and submitting certified payroll reports for prevailing wage projects required.
- Working knowledge of collective bargaining agreements, union fringe benefits, apprenticeship requirements, and prevailing wage regulations.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education, payroll certifications, or related experience are a plus.
