Position Description:
The Coordinator of Student Accounts is a full-time professional staff position within the Finance Office at Valparaiso University. This position provides excellent customer service to a diverse constituency. Duties include processing all student refunds, Title IV refunds, athletic stipends, assisting with student billing, running daily reports, and processing other related documents. This position also provides support for the university cashier.
Major Responsibilities:
- Provides exceptional customer service to students and parents regarding the details of their student account, and how to navigate the Student Account Center portal
- Responsible for answering high volumes of phone calls, responding to emails, and monitoring incoming phone messages in a timely manner
- Coordinates, prepares, and processes student refunds
- Coordinates and maintains miscellaneous billings such as book charges, insurance, and financial adjustments, as well as third-party billings
- Processes credit card payments on behalf of the university as necessary
- Presents training sessions during new student orientation
- Works proactively to collect on account balances
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Two (2) to five (5) years of work experience
- Experience in a higher education environment preferred

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, maintain confidentiality, and pay attention to detail
- Must provide excellent customer service and demonstrate a commitment to cultural diversity and the ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Exceptional organizational and follow-up skills
- Must excel at learning to use student information systems and related technology
- Excellent verbal and written communication
Salary Range: $38,000 - $40,000
