What You’ll Do
Textbook Procurement & Adoption
- Partner with faculty to collect and verify textbook adoption information for upcoming terms
- Collaborate with the ordering team to place orders with publishers and vendors
- Ensure timely delivery of course materials and adherence to adoption deadlines
- Maintain compliance with federal and institutional regulations
- Manage inventory levels to meet demand while minimizing overstock
- Conduct regular audits and resolve discrepancies
- Coordinate buyback programs and maintain a balanced mix of new and used materials
- Collaborate with the ordering team to establish competitive pricing strategies
- Monitor sales trends and adjust inventory and pricing to meet revenue goals
- Partner with marketing to promote textbook sales and rental programs
- Serve as the primary contact for faculty regarding textbook needs
- Assist students with questions on availability, pricing, and rental options
- Provide guidance on digital and alternative course materials
- Ensure compliance with the Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA) and other regulations
- Maintain accurate records of adoptions, orders, and sales
- Analyze reports related to sales performance, inventory levels, and adoption rates
- Train and supervise bookstore staff on textbook operations and customer service
- Delegate tasks including shelving, returns, and buyback activities
- Foster a collaborative, customer-focused team environment
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Education, or a related field preferred
- Equivalent experience will be considered
- 3 years in textbook operations, inventory management, or retail management
- Experience in higher education or campus bookstores is a plus
- Strong organizational and project management abilities
- Proficiency in inventory systems and Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 40 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods
- Occasional use of ladders or equipment for inventory management
- Primarily bookstore-based with frequent interaction with students, faculty, and staff
- Occasional travel may be required for training or regional meetings
