Property and Specialty Underwriting Intern

Summary:

The 8-week summer internship program offers students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the insurance industry. It provides challenging learning experiences that serve as a foundation for interns to explore their career choices and to develop professional skills. Working alongside some of the most talented members of the specialty insurance industry, interns will gain relevant expertise in various aspects of the field, participate in learning activities and receive ongoing feedback.

What You Can Expect:

• Participate in education sessions and gain exposure to all aspects of property and specialty underwriting, analysis, networking, and team-building opportunities.
• Receive hands-on training with underwriters and the assistant underwriting team through repetitive learning.
• Learn underwriting systems, processes, and account setup.
• Assist the team with tasks to develop an understanding of property and specialty underwriting while providing research and information.
• Demonstrate the ability to achieve results by setting goals, prioritizing tasks, and staying accountable to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with other interns on group activities, including the end-of-program capstone project.

• Actively completing areas of study in Insurance & Risk Management, Business, Finance, Engineering, or relevant programs.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA or higher. 
• College level - current Junior student.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Microsoft Excel proficiency strongly preferred.
• Entrepreneurial spirit along with the desire to be a continuous learner. 
• Team player who collaborates effectively.
• Self-starter who can work independently and deal effectively with multiple tasks/priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation:

The compensation for the position is $24 – $26 hourly.
