Position Title: Stock Clerk I/II
Department: Materials Management
Supervisor’s Title: Supply Chain Manager
I. Position Summary: Under supervision of the Supply Chain Manager, is responsible for issuing and delivering supplies/linen within the hospital and clinics, maintaining accurate inventories, receiving deliveries, distributing to appropriate departments, and processing daily requisitions. The work of this position is both physical, which requires daily lifting (reaching and bending) of case lots up to 50lbs, and clerical, which includes compiling and maintaining inventory of material received, stocked, issued, and entered in the computer system. Performs other administrative duties as required. May have potential exposure from working in patient care areas.
II. Stock Clerk I: This is an entry level position operating under close supervision and requires following written and verbal instructions with attention to detail.
Stock Clerk II: This is a supervisor position operating under the direction of the Supply Chain Manager and requires experience and competency in Hospital Supply Chain.
II. Principal Functions and Responsibilities:
Stock Clerk I
A. Replenish daily supplies to the medical areas of the hospital/clinics.
B. Fill daily requisitions and deliver to the appropriate departments in a timely manner.
C. Receive deliveries against purchase orders, evidence of delivery and noting shortage or damage. Place into inventory or delivery or supplies to the appropriate departments.
D. Maintain accurate records of items delivered and issued in the computer system.
E. Assist in keeping the storerooms and storage areas neat and clean.
F. Maintain accurate daily inventory.
G. Assist with annual inventory counts for Materials at the end of the fiscal year.
H. Participates in meetings or classes as required.
I. May be required to place orders for supplies following correct procedure.
J. Assists in the care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
K. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
L. Employees will maintain positive and effective relations with co-workers, other departments, clinicians, patients, and visitors.
Stock Clerk II
A. Supervise Stock Clerk I in all functions and responsibilities of that position.
B. Place orders for supplies following the policy procedure.
C. Supervise stock clerk in the storage and transportation of materials.
D. Maintain accurate inventory balances.
E. Maintain accurate records of requisitions, special orders, issues, and deliveries.
F. Under direction of Manager, maintain contracts, policies, and procedures.
G. Oversee the flow of supplies from procurement to delivery for use.
H. Manage ordering and distribution of linen.
I. Oversee preparation for year-end inventory and take lead on physical counts.
J. Supervise stock clerk in expiration checks and cycle counts.
K. Communicate back orders, shortages, and ETA of deliveries to departments.
L. Perform Stock Clerk I functions, to cover PTO, sick leave, etc.
M. Perform additional duties as assigned by manager.
III. Position Qualifications/Requirement:
Stock Clerk I
A. High School Diploma or GED
B. Computer experience preferred
C. Must be able to lift large boxes up to 50lbs
Stock Clerk II
A. High School Diploma or GED
B. Proficient in Computer, Excel, Word
C. 3 years of experience in Hospital Supply Chain
D. Must be able to lift large boxes up to 50lbs
