What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Supervisor position at Vallourec Star?

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This role is responsible for the overall maintenance performance of facilities’ threading lines. The candidate will participate in the training and hiring of maintenance professionals, ordering parts and equipment, recording daily maintenance activity within our Computerized Maintenance Management System (SAP), delegating work responsibilities, contacting service providers and contractors while supporting the maintenance department.

Technical and project management skills:

  • Competency in evaluating equipment function design and impact on operation or maintainability.
  • Lean manufacturing tools — 5s, value stream mapping, process center-lining, standard work.
  • Coach and train on lathe’s operational functions to determine equipment produces a high-quality product.
  • Extensive knowledge of precision equipment including dial indicators, calipers, micrometers, CMM, or other measuring instruments to ensure conformity throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Thorough understanding or best maintenance practices for Mori and Okuma Lathes.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Possess elevated level of safety awareness.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks and adjust priorities, as necessary.
  • Review and execute weekly maintenance schedule.
  • Ensure accurate recorded histories in work order completions.
  • Develop and execute training plan for maintenance workers.
  • Update inventories and other supplies as needed.

Interpersonal and leadership skills:

  • Establish and sustain effective relationships with all stakeholders to foster an environment where innovation and cooperation are used to solve problems.
  • Communicate best practice reliability methods; insuring team focus is on implementing agreed-upon methods.
  • Challenge peers, team members and customers to accept and apply innovative approaches, technologies and/or processes and facilitates teams to drive cost efficiencies and add economic value.
  • Ability to formulate and implement action plans based upon troubleshooting skills and structured problem-solving analysis to drive results.

Computer skills:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications o Kronos Payroll System
  • SAP knowledge, heavy CMMS experience

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • High School or GED. Twenty-four months of education and training on CNC lathe operations or maintenance and repair, or a closely related area.

Experience:

  • Two years’ experience at minimum required in general maintenance or other maintenance responsibilities that would include the ability to recognize electrical, and mechanical malfunctions or equipment failures, we would prefer the experience to be on CNC equipment.
  • Candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment background, drug, and work screen.
  • Must be available to work; day shift, rotating weekend duty, and 24/7 support.
