Position Summary
The Surgical Physician Assistant will work closely with our surgeons to provide comprehensive perioperative patient care, assisting in the operating room.
Schedule
- Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays are our dedicated surgery days
- Flexible scheduling may be available based on practice needs
Responsibilities
- First assist in surgical procedures
- Perform preoperative and postoperative patient assessments
- Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with supervising surgeons
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging studies
- Document patient encounters accurately and timely in the electronic medical record
- Educate patients and families regarding surgical procedures and postoperative care
- Coordinate care with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals
Qualifications
Required
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current Physician Assistant license in Utah
- NCCPA certification
- Current DEA registration (or ability to obtain)
- BLS and ACLS certification
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred
- Previous surgical experience as a Physician Assistant
- Experience in general surgery, women's health, and obstetrics
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
