Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support within a clinical setting. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, patient service, and various clinical procedures. The Medical Assistant will work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure efficient patient flow and optimal care delivery.
Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures
- Perform intake assessments, including obtaining vital signs and medical history
- Administer medications as directed by physicians
- Maintain accurate patient records in EHR systems
- Prepare patients for X-rays and other diagnostic tests
- Provide medical administrative support, including scheduling appointments and managing patient inquiries
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and infection control measures
- Educate patients on treatment plans and follow-up care
- Assist in the management of outpatient and inpatient care, including emergency medicine situations
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in various settings such as dermatology, urgent care, internal medicine, and geriatrics
Skills
- Proficient in medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and physiology knowledge
- Experience with ICD coding for accurate documentation
- Familiarity with EHR systems for efficient patient record management
- Basic life support certification is required; advanced certifications are a plus
- Strong patient service skills to enhance the patient experience
- Previous experience in hospital medicine or clinic settings preferred
- Knowledge of medical-surgical procedures and practices related to various specialties including PICU, OR experience, and Level I/II trauma center experience is advantageous
- Ability to perform tasks related to urgent care and emergency medicine effectively
