What are the responsibilities and job description for the CMM Programmer position at Valley Tool & Mfg., Inc.?
This position requires the knowledge to program (creating the path of the machine by programming the software, instead of just operating the machine) using at least one of these programs:
-Hexagon Global CMM, running PCDmis 2021 R2
-Romer Absolute Arm with Laser Scanning and Hard Probe, running Polyworks 2017
-Mitutoyo Bright Apex A710 CMM, running CMM Manager 2018
-Faro Arm, running CAM2 Measure
-Romer Absolute Arm, running Polyworks
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
-Interpreting Model Based Design Definitions and other engineering design input data/drawings
-Programming Brown & Sharp CMM & Romer Arm inspection routines.
-Operating CMM & Romer Arm – probe and scanner
-Mechanical Inspection using hand-held measuring instruments
-Training other inspection personnel in basic CMM operation
Qualifications and Skills:
-High School diploma; Associates (or higher) Degree in a technical discipline is preferred
-Five years as a CMM Technician/Programmer – Mitutoyo Bright A-710 and/or PC-DMIS based (preferred).
-At least two (2) years’ experience in one of the following manufacturing industries: Aerospace (AS9100 including AS9102 First Article Inspection - preferred); Automotive (TS19649 including PPAP process); Medical Devices (ISO 13485)
-ASQ certified Mechanical Inspector/Quality Technician experience desirable
-Fluency in understanding and interpreting Model Based Design Definitions and other engineering design
input; demonstrated proficiency in CMM programming and operation
-Blueprint Reading; Geometric Tolerancing; utilization of: CMM, micrometers, verniers, height gauges,
depth gauges, pin gauges, profilometer, visual comparator, etc.
-Ability to establish rapport with others; effective verbal presentation and professional presence; ability to generate succinct e-mails and informational reports
-Ability to utilize Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook); experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform (i.e. EPICOR/SAP/ORACLE)
-Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and
procedure manuals. Ability to communicate clearly with supervisor and coworkers.
-Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving limited variables in manufacturing process.
