What are the responsibilities and job description for the Job Estimator position at Valley Tool & Mfg., Inc.?
The Estimating Coordinator supports the Estimating functions and involves preparing bid prequalification forms, assisting with subcontract execution, and overall supports private and government hard bids. Acts as the primary administrative support person for the Estimating Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but, are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned as required.
- Re-qualify bids for manufacturability.
- Acquires material and purchased item costs and availabilities.
- Coordinates with the customer for additional data and or questions relating to the bids.
- Capable of diagnosing simple issues with parts, able to work with technical staff to diagnose more complex issues.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal products.
- Assists with engineering and production after a bid has been awarded.
- Create cost and pricing data for aerospace and manufacturing parts.

· High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Experience working in manufacturing required. Working with manufactured aerospace components preferred.
· Ability to read drawings and technical specifications.
· Experience with cost estimating and purchased acquisitions.
· Basic metallurgy knowledge.
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
· Ability to read and interpret documents.
· Must be detail oriented and have a strong mathematical background.
· Able to communicate and work well with others.
· Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving limited variables in manufacturing process.
