What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Technician position at Valley Telephone?
SUMMARY
Performs maintenance on buildings and properties including painting, patching, plumbing, electrical, replacing, erosion control, and fencing buildings by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Performs scheduled construction, repair, and maintenance work on buildings and grounds.
- Performs preventative maintenance on generators and generator rooms.
- Cleans, protects, and maintains all assigned tools, equipment, and work areas.
- Completes all reporting, logs, and documentation accurately and on time.
- Loads and secures tools and materials on company vehicles and travels to assigned work locations.
- Obtains contractor bids and oversees contractor work as needed.
- Works safely in all environments, following established safety and OSHA guidelines.
- Ensures annual testing and inspections of fire systems, security systems, and access control equipment.
- Reads and interprets facility architectural plans and technical drawings.
- Participates in project meetings and communicates relevant information to the department.
- Maintains a positive work environment through professional communication and conduct.
- Ensures compliance with OSHA, safety standards, and departmental policies.
- Other duties may be assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or building maintenance, plumbing, air conditioning related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have a valid Driver’s License and insurable record.
Must pass pre-employment screen, physical and background checks.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Must be able to work required overtime, emergency call-outs, weekends and out-of-town assignments.
- Must be able to attend and successfully complete required training courses.
