What are the responsibilities and job description for the Aftercare Coordinator position at Valley Rescue Mission?
Job Summary:
The Aftercare Coordinator will ensure that each graduate has the time, tools, and support they need to build a solid foundation---spiritually, emotionally, relationally, and financially.
Primary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop an Alumni Association of Recovery graduates.
- Responsible for overseeing the construction/remodeling of the space for the new Aftercare Program.
- Responsible for creating and administering the Aftercare curriculum and activities once approved by VRM leadership.
- Develop, coordinate, and direct program activities/content.
- Ensure the Aftercare Program content address the program clients’ needs of essential life skills such as budgeting, financial literacy, employment readiness, parenting, and healthy decision-making.
- Connect program clients with local churches, mentors, and alumni to build a supportive network.
- Provide clients guidance, available resources/legal aid, and encouragement to get past charges dropped or records cleared.
- Responsible for the development, assignment and oversight of Work Therapy activities for the program clients.
- Monitoring of client activities: conduct regular check-ins, track client progress and coach accordingly, administer drug and alcohol screenings to ensure continued adherence to recovery.
Required:
- Project Management experience with startups---ground up facility and curriculum development.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Driver’s License with clear 3-year motor vehicle report.
- Requires extreme confidentiality and sensitivity in regards to personal and clinical records of all clients.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and interact positively with VRM clients, staff, visitors, vendors, donors and other guests.
Education and Experience:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience working with clients in the area of substance abuse.
- Preferred: 4-year degree in Counseling, Psychology or directly related field, from an accredited college or university.
