Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Taylorsville, NC is looking for a dependable and detail-oriented Dietary Puree Cook to join our dietary team.

This position plays an important role in preparing pureed and texture-modified meals for residents with specific dietary needs. We are looking for someone who takes pride in food preparation, pays close attention to detail, and understands the importance of providing meals that are safe, appealing, and enjoyable for our residents.

Position Overview

The Dietary Puree Cook is responsible for preparing pureed and other texture-modified foods according to resident diet orders, planned menus, recipes, and facility guidelines. This position works closely with the dietary team to ensure residents receive the correct meals while maintaining high standards for food quality, presentation, sanitation, and safety.

Schedule

• Full-Time

• Monday through Friday

• Every Other Weekend Required

• Dependable and consistent attendance is required

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare pureed and texture-modified meals according to resident dietary requirements

• Follow established recipes, menus, portion sizes, and food preparation guidelines

• Ensure meals are prepared to the appropriate texture and consistency

• Carefully follow resident meal tickets and diet orders to help ensure accuracy

• Prepare food in an appealing and appetizing manner

• Monitor food temperatures and quality throughout preparation and meal service

• Follow food safety, sanitation, infection control, and kitchen safety procedures

• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area

• Properly label, store, rotate, and handle food products

• Assist with meal preparation and other dietary department responsibilities as needed

• Work closely with cooks, dietary aides, nursing staff, and facility leadership

• Ensure meals are prepared and ready for service in a timely manner

Qualifications

• Previous food preparation or cooking experience preferred

• Experience in a skilled nursing, long-term care, assisted living, hospital, or healthcare kitchen is a plus

• Experience preparing pureed or texture-modified foods preferred, but training may be provided

• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices

• Strong attention to detail, especially when following resident diet requirements

• Ability to follow recipes, menus, and written instructions

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment

• Strong teamwork and communication skills

• Dependable attendance and a positive attitude

• Must be available to work Monday through Friday and every other weekend
