Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Taylorsville, NC is looking for a dependable and experienced Cook to join our dietary team!

Position Overview

The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, home-style meals while following resident dietary needs, planned menus, food safety standards, and sanitation guidelines. We are looking for someone who is dependable, organized, team-oriented, and takes pride in providing quality meals and excellent service to our residents.

Schedule

• Full-Time Position

• Monday through Friday

• Every Other Weekend Required

• Consistent schedule in a supportive skilled nursing environment

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals according to planned menus and resident dietary needs

• Follow recipes, portion control standards, and food preparation guidelines

• Accommodate special diets and texture modifications as required

• Monitor food quality and temperatures during preparation and meal service

• Ensure meals are prepared and served in a timely and professional manner

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment

• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations

• Assist with food inventory, proper storage, and supply rotation

• Work collaboratively with dietary staff, nursing teams, and facility leadership

Qualifications

• Previous cooking experience in healthcare, long-term care, restaurant, or institutional food service preferred

• High school diploma or GED preferred

• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and dietary guidelines

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• ServSafe certification preferred or willingness to obtain

• Dependable attendance and a positive, team-focused attitude

• Ability to work every other weekend as scheduled
