Job Description
The Nursing Supervisor provides leadership and direction, in accordance with organizational and departmental standards, procedures and goals; actively participates in the hospital PI process. Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates delivery of nursing care and sets nursing standards for patient care. Assesses professional growth of employees. Identifies needs and develops provisions to meet educational goals, utilizing internal and external educational resources. Hires, counsels and evaluates the performance of associates. Interviews and selects new employees. Maintains responsibility for 12 clinical hours per week as part of the department's core staffing plan. Assists the Nursing Director with preparation and monitoring of the departmental budget.
Education
Bachelors Nursing (BSN) required
Experience
Two years clinical experience required in respective department
Certification & Licensure
Virginia Registered Nurse License required
BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart ‘Healthcare Provider’ (HCP) - AHA approved required * New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation.
PEARS or PALS required within 120 days
Qualifications
Excellent communication skills required
Attention to detail required
Ability to mentor and lead staff required
