Job Title: Executive Director

Location: The Golden Husk Theatre – Ord, Nebraska and Valley County Creative District

Organizations: Valley Performing Arts Theater, Inc. (501(c)(3) nonprofit) with the collaboration of the Valley County Creative District partners.

We are seeking a mission-driven and visionary Executive Director to lead our organization into an exciting next chapter of growth, innovation, and impact.

Position Summary:

The Executive Director will serve as the administrator of the Theatre with responsibility for overall leadership in nonprofit operations, venue and event management, and public relations. The Executive Director will work collaboratively with the Artistic Director to design the annual programming and related grant funding.

Key Responsibilities:

Working collaboratively with the Board of Directors, action teams, staff and volunteers; the Executive Director will:

· Oversee all operations of the nonprofit including leadership development, governance, finances, fundraising campaigns, facilities, and public relations.

· Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, business sponsors, community partners, and stakeholders as the primary spokesperson for the organization.

· Manage facility rentals, technical operations, and special events.

· Collaborate with the Artistic Director to design a robust annual season of programming including live performances, educational workshops, and supporting technicians to fulfill the organization’s mission and vision.

· Work collaboratively with a grant writer to facilitate grant applications and reporting requirements for funding support for annual programming, facility improvements, and technology upgrades.

· Implement and coordinate the annual performing arts season, educational programming and onsite production scheduling.

· Identify opportunities for capital improvements and cost-efficiencies related to the venue and its artistic output.

· Hold regular, weekly office and open lobby hours at the theatre.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Arts Administration and Management, Public Administration/Nonprofit Management, Rural Community Development, or related field.

· Proven experience in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, public relations, financial management and venue operations.

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written).

· Strong organizational, project management, and consensus-building abilities.

· Proficiency in web-based communication systems - Microsoft 365, Data Collection/File Sharing, and Email, etc.

· Familiarity with sound and lighting systems and projection equipment technology is preferred.

· An entrepreneurial mindset and passion for the arts and rural community development.

· Experience in nonprofit organizational leadership and creative venue management in a rural community setting.

· Ability to build strong relationships and represent the theatre with enthusiasm and professionalism.

· Commitment to curating accessibility for arts programming and cultural experiences.

Compensation:

· Starting Wage: $25.00/hour

· Hours: 20 hours/week including monthly events

· Benefits: Flexible scheduling, professional development, season of events family pass, PTO for sick leave and vacation at 10 days/year.

· This position has the potential to become a full-time position in partnership with the Valley County Creative District Partners on July 1, 2026.
