Role Overview:
The Director of Recovery Place Kent is responsible for articulating and implementing the facility philosophy and agency mission to promote hope and healing for persons in crisis. This role is an integral member of a multidisciplinary team who directs and oversees the operations of Recovery Place Kent – A 24-hour Evaluation and Treatment Center (E&T) and Secure Withdrawal Management Services (SWMS) Facility. The director sets the tone of efficient and effective interventions with a heavy emphasis on customer service to consumers and partners. The facility has a total of 32 beds (16 E&T and 16 Secure Withdrawal Management) and a leadership team comprised of nurse management, program managers, and Associate Medical Director. The director will also interface with managed care organizations, external reviewers, vendors, and referral sources and partners. The director assures that good customer service practices are utilized, maintains active and productive relationships with all contracted agencies, key agencies, and community policy teams.

Experience:
- 5 years of operational and managerial experience in a Behavioral Healthcare Hospital and/or Residential treatment setting
- Experience in the interventions of Seclusion and Restraint
- Can illustrate experience that includes successful networking and communication to community resources, e.g. other treatment organizations, Crisis Centers, Community Outreach, Third Party Payors.
- Proven success in written communications
Must demonstrate ability and skill in the following areas -
- Must have a working knowledge of Involuntary Treatment laws

Key Responsibilities:
Management/Administrative Responsibilities
- Provides support to designing the agency’s continuum of care to ensure clients access appropriate
- levels of care to promote health outcomes.
- Collaborations with King County Crisis and Commitment Services and the Involuntary Treatment Act Court to support the legal and treatment process.
- Collaboration with both Nursing and Medical Teams to engage in a multidisciplinary team approach.
- Assumes responsibility for the general leadership and management of the facility to accomplish and support VCCC’s missions, goals, and objectives.
- Institutes and maintains an organizational vision and environment that emphasizes teamwork, trust, professionalism, efficiency, and customer service.
- Engages with Managed Care Organizations and the Behavioral Health Administrative Services Organization around appropriate Utilization Management to ensure appropriate levels of care are available to clients.
- Track data and provide information to manage contracts for reimbursement, service provision, and

- Ensures excellent internal and external customer service.
- Develops, implements, reviews, and enforces all laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures as required.
- Ensures agency leadership is effectively informed, collaborate and discuss with leadership the issues affecting the facility and programs.
- Develops and maintains relationships with community and business leaders, political representatives, contributors, regulators, allied human services providers such as police, hospital, public safety, and other healthcare service providers.
- Develops, implements, reviews, and maintains an emergency operation plan in conjunction with community governmental and service organizations to provide behavioral (and primary care, if relevant) health services to the community in the event of a catastrophic event
- Responsible for ensuring site safety requirements are met.
- Ensures compliance with all regulatory bodies (to include but not limited to Joint Commission, RCW/WAC, Department of Health, King County, Health Care Authority)
- Takes responsibility for staff development to accomplish and support VCCC’s mission, goals and objectives.
- Responsible for ensuring effective onboarding, staff development, training, and performance management.
- Responsible for ensuring appropriate staff coverage for shifts and operations of the facility.
- Ensures cross-site cooperation and collaboration.
- Functions as an advocate of VC and the site when issues affecting the site can be impacted by public entities.
- Responsible for maintaining clinical quality, coordinating and implementing CQI processes for facility.
- Assumes 24-hour accountability for facility and services.
Financial Responsibilities
- Assists the Chief of Inpatient in preparing an annual budget for the Chief Financial Officer’s review and approval that follows and supports the mission and strategic plan of VC and the site.
- Uses cost benefit analysis as a tool for decision making.
- Submits data to help prepare VCCC’s financial reports.
- Analyze financial statements and make adjustments to operations as needed.
- Ensures effective management and collaborates with other VCCC departments for billing and receipting, cash management, payroll reporting, and accounts receivable and accounts payable activities.
Human Resources Responsibilities
- Effectively manages employee conflicts and builds and maintains a sense of teamwork among staff members.
- Recruits and selects staff in collaboration with site team and HR
- Place high value on cultural competency and ensure that hiring reflects community demographics.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- Advanced degree and licensure-Master’s degree with WA State Licensure as an SUPD, LICSW, LMFT, LMHC or Registered Nurse with a MHP endorsement required. Dual licensure as SUDP/LMHC preferred.
- Demonstrates a clear understanding of the principles of recovery.
