Job Summary
The Facilities Technician I is responsible for completing daily assignments as directed by the Campus Facilities Manager and supporting the facilities department across a variety of maintenance tasks. Duties are performed in areas maintained by Facilities and require relevant knowledge and experience in general maintenance, with work conducted in both indoor and outdoor environments. This role is essential to maintaining safe, clean, and functional school campuses for staff, students, and visitors, in compliance with all applicable city, county, state, and federal regulations. Accurate and timely documentation of all work performed is a critical requirement of this position.

Role And Responsibilities
- Deliver equipment and supplies
- Clean restrooms and corridors and sweep, vacuum, mop, dust, and empty trash as needed
- Pick up trash from sports fields after activities
- Clean up after lunch time
- Set up and take down all school-related activities and events
- Move furniture and equipment as needed
- Raise the United States flag before school and retire the flag after school hours
- Assist with securing the buildings
- Communicate effectively with all members of the school campuses and community
- Appropriately operate all equipment and machinery, as necessary
- Maintain all school buildings and athletic fields to ensure they are safe for staff, students, and visitor use, and report safety hazards and the need for major and minor repairs.
- Perform maintenance tasks, including changing air filters and light bulbs, painting, conducting preventative maintenance, as well as other tasks assigned by the Campus Facilities Manager
- Follow all city, county, state, and federal safety guidelines in the repairs of the facilities
- Operate all equipment and machinery, in a safe manner
- Initiate work orders/requests
- Adhere to Valley Christian policies, procedures/processes and codes
- Performs other related assigned duties
Qualifications and Skills:
- Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that serves as a consistent testimony to others

- Must have and maintain a valid level one IVP fingerprint card
- Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
- Basic proficiency in English is required to effectively perform job duties, including communication with staff, students, and vendors
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Ability to multi-task with organization
- Ability to read and understand safety data sheets, materials, and training
- Must take OSHA related training as assigned
- Has experience with auto scrubbers, industrial shampooers, and floor buffers
- Has a good knowledge of chemicals, hazards, & applications for cleaning
- Ability to use a vacuum, broom, and mop
- Ability to work with power tools
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings
- Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment and to react with discretion under varying conditions
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and appropriate relationships with outside vendors and businesses
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- Experience in building and ground maintenance
- Experience in custodial cleaning
- Prior experience preferred
- Use a computer (visual and keyboarding)
- Able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) 50% of the time
- Requires stooping, bending, turning, pushing, pulling, reaching and climbing stairs (2-story) and use of hands, fingers, arms to reach, grip and maneuver objects
- Continual walking throughout the campuses
- Must be able to respond quickly to sounds (fire/security alarms)
- Ability to work in noisy and crowded school environment
- Able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) 50% of the time
- Occasionally requires driving
- Requires visual acuity for diagnosing and repairing maintenance and mechanical problems
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 70-100 pounds using safety measures to do so
- Requires working safely outdoors in varying temperatures and occasionally working in and around dust, fumes, and odors
- Tempe campus - work around small children including sitting, standing, running and climbing stairs
- Tempe campus - able to lift and carry small children up to 40 pounds in case of emergency
- Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings when needed
- Must be able to travel in state between campuses, to vendors, and to related events
