POSITION SUMMARY The VCMS RSP teacher will collaborate closely with classroom teachers, the reading interventionist, the special education coordinator and the principal to ensure compliance with special education guidelines and student progress and achievement for our students with disabilities. RESPONSIBILITIES -Prepare student education plans in consultation with parents and IEP team members. -Design instruction, both individual and small group, that parallels the general education curriculum and supports students in relation to the services and goals outlined in IEPs, as well as supports students towards mastery of grade level standards, as appropriate. -Monitor student progress, participate in review and revision of IEPs, as appropriate. -Assess students with disabilities or suspected disabilities. -Maintain appropriate student data and other records, and submit reports as required. Attend and be prepared for weekly special education team meetings. -Support general education teachers in knowing and providing appropriate access and supports to students with disabilities in general education classrooms/settings. -Attend IEP meetings and parent-teacher conferences, as appropriate. -Create a structured, positive classroom culture that is conducive to learning and promotes a sense of belonging for all students -Establish positive, caring relationships with students and school stakeholders Gather and use data to tailor instruction to meet individual student academic and social needs with a goal of grade level performance Participate in professional learning activities, Collaborate effectively with colleagues QUALIFICATIONS AND DESIRED TRAITS -2 years teaching experience highly desirable -Valid California mild to moderate special education teaching credential with EL authorization. -Spanish fluency highly desirable HOW TO APPLY: Apply through the Edjoin application.
