POSITION SUMMARY Valley Charter Schools (VCS) seeks experienced, driven, creative team players who believe in a constructivist, project-based approach, backwards planning, purposeful collaboration with colleagues, and the power of on-going coaching, observation and feedback cycles to support professional growth. VCS teachers have a students-first attitude, a belief in nurturing the whole child, and an unwavering commitment to equity of access and opportunity for all students. The VCES RSP teacher will be supervised by the principal and collaborate closely with classroom teachers and other service providers to ensure compliance with special education guidelines and student progress and achievement for our students with disabilities. RESPONSIBILITIES -Serve as case manager by coordinating services for a student with significant needs and a large number of providers -Prepare student education plans in consultation with parents and IEP team members. -Design instruction, both individual and small group, that parallels the general education curriculum and supports students in relation to the services and goals outlined in IEPs, as well as supports students towards mastery of grade level standards, as appropriate. -Monitor student progress, participate in review and revision of IEPs, as appropriate. -Assess students with disabilities or suspected disabilities. -Maintain appropriate student data and other records, and submit reports as required. -Attend and be prepared for weekly special education team meetings. -Support general education teachers in knowing and providing appropriate access and supports to students with disabilities in general education classrooms/settings. -Attend and facilitate IEP meetings and parent-teacher conferences, as appropriate. -Utilize VCS-developed planning templates to develop and refine curriculum maps, culminating projects, rubrics, units, and lessons that meet the requirements of Common Core Standards, as appropriate.
