Job Description: Valley Beverage is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to work at our Lewiston location. he Accounts Payable Specialist will work for and in partnership with the Financial Administrator and is responsible for a variety of accounting tasks including accounts payable and general ledger. The Accounts Payable Specialist works to deliver prompt, timely, and accurate disbursement of funds as they relate to business expenses.
Responsibilities
- Review A/P documents to ensure payment requests are strictly in accordance with Valley Beverages policies and procedures and include proper documentation and required approvals.
- Assist in general accounting and financial statement preparation.
- Respond to external vendors and internal managers regarding all aspects of the accounts payable process, including processing invoices for payment.
- Verify the accuracy of vendor invoices and confirm that the correct general ledger account codes are used.
- Generate payment to vendors on a routine schedule and match the check with backup for review by the Financial Administrator.
- Gather W-9 and COI (Certificate of Insurance).
- Prepare customer invoicing and billing.
- Reviews and resolves any customer issues involving invoices and outstanding balances.
- Prepare account reconciliations for general ledger and banking.
- Maintain ledgers and post journal entries.
- Prepare monthly excise tax and sales tax reporting to the state.
- Assist with audits and year end reporting.
- Assist and review payroll processing.
- Support other team members as needed.
- Various other office related duties.
Qualifications
- Associates degree, Bachelors preferred, in a related discipline, plus 4 /- years of relevant accounting experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
- Good general knowledge of basic accounting/bookkeeping principles and procedures.
- High commitment to customer service and exceptional interpersonal skills working with peers and subordinates.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong planning, administrative, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks and responsibilities and adapt to shifting priorities while maintaining effectiveness.
- Must be a self-starter with a positive attitude, and strong work ethic.
- Sensitive to confidential information.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Experience with VIP software preferred.
