VALLEJO CITY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICTHuman Resources665 Walnut Avenue, Vallejo, CA 94592JOB DESCRIPTIONEXPANDED LEARNING PROGRAM ASSISTANT Title: Expanded Learning Program Assistant Reports To: District Coordinator of School & Student Accountability or DesigneeDepartment: School and Student Accountability Work Year: LC185Classification: CSEA Salary: Current Classified Salary ScheduleDate Approved: DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:Under the supervision of After School Site Coordinator and the District Coordinator of After School Programs, the Expanded Learning Program Assistant develops, implements and facilitates lessons and activities aligned with Extended Learning Program and VCUSD goals that support the academic success and the social/emotional development of all program students.REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:Work with the After School Site Coordinator to develop an engaging out-of-school time program that reflects youth voice, and youth development needs of all students EProvide students with homework assistance, provide small group tutoring in core academic subjects: English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies, and assist students in developing good study habits EPrepare creative, hands-on interactive lesson plans with short and long range curricular goals and objectives that embody the 5 Principles of Learning in Afterschool and Summer (LIAS): programming that is active, collaborative, supports mastery, is meaningful, and expands horizons to implement a variety of technology, sports, wellness, fine arts, and performing arts programming for youth EPrepare youth for performances and presentations associated with programming EUse a variety of materials, resources, and experiences to enrich student learning EProvide active supervision of students during all programming activities EImplement the VCUSD’s positive behavior intervention system to help students meet behavior expectations, provide students with positive reinforcement when meeting expectations and corrective feedback when needed EUse effective positive interpersonal communication with youth and adults EMaintain confidentiality of student information, written and oral EReport to Site Coordinator regarding unsafe or unusual incidents and complete any incident reporting documents required EParticipate in regular professional development and program improvement activities EAssist the site coordinator in maintaining a safe, organized and clean environment for all programming EPerforms other related duties as assigned.EDUCATION AND CREDENTIALS:High School graduation or equivalent.Meet the requirements of No Child Left Behind (NCLB) by possessing an Associate's Degree, or 48 semester units from an accredited institution of higher learning, or passing score on the VCUSD proficiency NCLB examination.KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Commitment: Committed to positive youth development, the academic achievement of all students and passionate about closing the achievement gapLeadership: Coaches, mentors and challenges others to excel despite obstacles and challenging circumstancesSolution Driven: Approaches work with a sense of responsibility and sees challenges as opportunities for creative problem solvingCollaborative: Increases the effectiveness of surrounding team members through collaboration and support, sensitive to diversity in all its forms and respects and is committed to learning from othersProfessional: Consistently deliver high quality work through strong organizational skills, punctuality, and attention to detail.
