Valiant Search Partners is conducting a search on behalf of a high-growth, private equity-backed Office of the CFO (OCFO) consulting platform seeking to add a Managing Director to help expand its presence in the New York market.
This is a highly visible leadership opportunity for an entrepreneurial executive who combines strong business development instincts with deep accounting and financial advisory expertise. Unlike many traditional advisory leadership roles that lean heavily toward service delivery, this position carries a significant emphasis on practice growth, relationship development, and revenue generation.

Our client is a nationally-recognized consulting firm that partners with CFOs, CAOs, and finance organizations across a broad range of accounting, financial reporting, operational finance, and transformation initiatives. This Managing Director will play a key role in expanding the firm’s footprint in the New York market by developing senior-level client relationships, originating new business opportunities, and serving as a trusted advisor to finance and accounting executives.
Key Areas of Focus
- Develop and cultivate relationships with CFOs, CAOs, Controllers, Private Equity sponsors, and other senior business leaders across the marketplace.
- Identify, originate, and close new consulting and advisory engagements across accounting, finance, and operational initiatives.
- Help drive market expansion efforts, including visibility, networking, and strategic relationship development within the New York business community.
- Lead consultative business development efforts from initial outreach through proposal, negotiation, and close.
- Serve as a senior advisor on complex accounting and financial reporting matters for both public and private company clients.
- Partner closely with internal leadership and delivery teams to ensure exceptional client outcomes and long-term relationship growth.
- Mentor and develop high-performing consulting professionals across the practice.
- Effectively solve complex accounting/technical issues and clearly communicate solutions with little to no involvement from a Partner.
- Responsible for all aspects of engagement/project deliverables and manage a portfolio of client projects.
- Effectively owns client delivery and the overall client relationships and will be viewed as the engagement leader by client; and will consistently communicate issues to clients and provide solutions that are well-thought and clearly articulated.
Ideal Background & Qualifications
- CPA designation required
- 12 years of experience within Big 4, national consulting, accounting advisory, and/or corporate finance/accounting environments.
- Demonstrated success building and maintaining executive-level client relationships.
- Track record of originating and developing professional services-revenue opportunities.
- Strong technical accounting and financial reporting foundation, including experience advising clients on complex accounting matters and business transactions (M&A).
- Executive presence, strong communication skills, and the ability to operate effectively in highly visible client-facing environments
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate as both a strategic advisor and business builder.
Compensation:
Compensation package includes competitive base salary (up to $300,000 annually), performance bonus incentives, and long-term upside potential.
