Role Description The Senior Accountant is a full-time, hybrid role based in the New York City with flexibility for partial work-from-home arrangements. This is a temporary 6 mths contract covering maternity leave with potential for extension. This role is responsible for managing general ledger activities, preparing and reviewing journal entries, and ensuring accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings. The Senior Accountant will reconcile accounts, analyze financial data, and support the preparation of financial statements and management reports in line with internal policies and external regulations. Daily activities include collaborating with cross-functional teams, supporting budgeting and forecasting processes, reviewing expense allocations, and assisting with internal and external audits. The role also involves continuous process improvement, implementing best practices in accounting, and ensuring alignment with Valentino’s global finance standards.

Qualifications
- Strong general accounting skills, including general ledger management, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and relevant accounting standards, with familiarity in compliance, internal controls, and audit support.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP or financial systems (e.g., SAP S/4 or similar), plus strong data accuracy and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or progress toward certification is a strong plus.
- Previous experience in a Senior Accountant or similar role, ideally within luxury, retail, or consumer goods industries.
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment, maintaining reliability, confidentiality, and professional judgment.
