Senior Accountant

Momentum Environmental (“Momentum”) provides specialized environmental, industrial and waste management services to several leading industries in the northeast. Momentum serves an impressive client base in the northeast and is experiencing rapid growth through organic and M&A activities. The Staff Accountant will support Momentum`s accounting and financial reporting needs. This position will support the Controller in maintaining accurate financial records, strengthening internal controls, and improving job-level reporting. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, service-based environment. The job responsibilities may be changed or expanded at will and are expected to expand in conjunction with experience and the Company’s growing needs.

 Essential Responsibilities

• Review and analyze Accounts Payable transactions for accuracy, proper coding, and compliance with company policies
• Assist with job costing, including review of labor, materials, subcontractors, and equipment allocations
• Prepare and maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations
• Support month-end and year-end close processes
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and invoicing issues
• Assist with fixed asset tracking and prepaid expense schedules
• Support audit requests and financial reporting needs
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and internal controls
• Take part in special projects requested by senior management, including special reports and process improvements as needed

Specific Skills, Experience and Qualifications

• 2- 5 years of accounting/finance related experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
• Excellent computer skills including proficient use of MS Excel and Word
• Experience with Acumatica, or other cloud-based accounting systems a plus; experience with comparable platforms/systems required
• Experience with job costing or construction/service-based accounting a plus
• Ability to work effectively across organizational and functional boundaries
• Ability to work as part of a team and overcome challenges associated with a small, rapidly growing business
• Must be detailed oriented with strong analytical skills
• Demonstrate ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines; ability to adapt to change
• Must be able to assume initiative and work independently with minimal direction
• Strong communication, organizational, time management, and documentation skills

Salary : $65,000 - $75,000
